Like everyone else, I’ve been thinking a lot this week about what’s happening in the news. So this week’s tip for paying subscribers is less that and more some thoughts on how to think about the world and our place in it right now. When you write for a living, you will eventually face the conundrum of publishing something at a moment that feels starkly different in tone or mood from the moment when you actually wrote it.
